Each module has an AM and PM component and lasts a full day - please select only one.

Session

Brief rationale / skills focus

Module 1 - General Stud‑Farm

Pregnant‑mare ultrasound: fetal evaluation & sexingHands‑on transabdominal (and demonstration of rectal) ultrasonography of mid‑gestation mares; identification of viability parameters (heartbeat, bone maturity, placental thickness) and fetal sexing.
Foal resuscitation (dummy) & placental examinationProtocols for neonatal airway management, ventilation, chest compressions; systematic gross placental evaluation (frozen placentas).
Cytology & culture prep (biopsy interpretation)Collection of uterine sample, on‑farm Gram‑ and Diff‑Quik smears, culture plating, and interpretation.
Semen evaluationManual assessment of motility, concentration, morphology and extender preparation. Use of Microfluidics device VetMotl.

Module 2 - OPU (TVA/IVP)

Equipment & media set‑upAssembly of transvaginal aspiration system; preparation of the system and comparison of the available systems. Note to things to prepare before the procedure.
TVA demonstration (Full Repro tracts & mare)Demo of OPU and discussion about the techniques to improve recovery rate
Oocyte search & packingAspiration fluid filtration, Oocyte searching under stereomicroscope, cumulus assessment, transfer to holding medium and packing for shipment.
IVP‑embryo thawingThawing (warming) and quality grading of day‑7/8 IVP embryos. Load of embryos in straws/gun for transferring.
Post‑mortem gamete retrieval (optional)Ovary scraping and epididymal flush (frozen samples)

Module 3 - Embryo‑Transfer (ET)

Embryo flushNon‑surgical transcervical lavage, filtration and recovery.
Embryo search & evaluationIdentification, stage grading and embryo rinse.
Embryo transfer (Wilsher forceps)Loading into 0.5 cc straw; ET with Wilsher forceps.
Embryo vitrification & warmingCryolock vitrification of ≤300 µm embryos; rapid warming and dilution.
